Promising start to 2015 Football & Netball

Beautiful evening at Mercury Drive

Our preparation for the 2015 season is progressing well with preseason training now leading into practice matches.

Our first hit out was great, it was a game against Murchison FC where both football and netball were able to apply game style performance into training.

Uncle Wes presented the grounds of our club in fantastic condition and the crowd that gathered was vocal and passionate for both sides (even practice matches are serious!)

Good to see Jason Trianidis, Assistant Coach, and Scott Turner, Reserves Coach assisting run the game on the boundary.

Highlights for Rumba on the day was the fact that 10 of our first team players were unavailable due to weddings etc. creating an opportunity for a number of younger players to stake a claim on senior selection this year.

Taigy was in good form, Chris Foley was prominent, Lindsey impressed with his attack on the ball.  Great to see Leon and Coxy both on the ground, a formidable ruck duo this season, possibly the best in country Victoria.

Merv played his first game of AFL football and looked really good with his pace and skills.

Josh Wanganeen, former Captain of Rumba, made his return in the jumper and played an energetic running game which was good to see.   Nathan Terlich looks fit and Desi played his usual Rolls Royce game.

This week the practice game is against Shepp Bears on Friday night, a high level of competition which will be a good hit out for our senior group.

We welcomed the Murchison Football Netball club to Rumba  for what proved to be an excellent day with two netball games being played with a mix of our B, C & C Reserve players. Despite the hot weather the girls ran four 10 minute quarters and showed some great form thanks to our excellent preseason.  Murchison were also very strong on the court and we hope to continue that relationship now and wish them the best for their season ahead.

Well done to all who participated including players, coaches and umpires. Looking forward to our next practice match against Katandra on the 19th March, Go Rumba!
